The class trial was finally over. Everyone in the room had gone against Phoenix Wright--even the teacher at one point--and only two people had had the guts to stand up for him. In the end, Phoenix was said to be innocent of stealing Miles Edgeworth's lunch money, much to his classmates' dismay.
The boy sat there in the desk in the middle of the room, unsure of his next move. Phoenix was positive that the other kids wouldn't let him play with them anymore, seeing as they still believed he was guilty. He simply sat there and wiped away the remaining tears from his eyes that had been created by the kids' insults and false accusations.
When he looked up, he saw two boys towering over him. He gasped; they were the same boys who had defended him not even ten minutes ago.
"Er... Hi... I mean... Thanks. You know... for helping me," he said quietly, trying to figure out why they were there. Had they just defended him only to come by and bash him too, to say they thought he was really guilty and was only found innocent because there was no evidence? Or had they come for some other reason?
"Hey, it was no problem!" Larry Butz said, giving Phoenix the thumbs up sign.
"Yeah, it was no problem," Miles Edgeworth stated. Phoenix found him the most confusing of the two--after all, he was the one who had his money stolen and had still stood up for him. Nonetheless, Phoenix breathed a sigh of relief; these two weren't going to go against him after all.
"But... how do you know I'm really innocent?" Phoenix started, but cut himself off.
That was stupid! Just shut up already! You're making yourself look guilty! So stupid...
Miles grinned slighty, glancing over at Larry. "Oh, trust me, I know," he said, causing a confused but grateful expression to appear on Phoenix's face.
